!Trailer Hitch- Bottom's Out!

The camper either has a really low trailer hitch, or terrible shocks/suspension in the back. That, compounded with the fact that we have a really strange driveway that makes the camper bottom out, has taken its toll on the trailer hitch. The bottom metal plate, as can be seen in the below pictures, has been crumbled against the ground so many times, it's beginning to become dislodged from the actual piece.

Two solutions:
1) Get a new trailer hitch
2) Find a welder that can put a new plate on the hitch

This brings up the point about bottoming out in campers. How are people getting around this issue? I've seen things that resemble stackable lego pieces, 2X6 pieces of lumber, and even skid wheels. If anyone has a good solution to this issue, please feel free to comment.
